Meet Dr. hc. Eng. Fabio Hüther

the founder of Umuntu and Evodrop

Bio:

Dr. hc. Eng. Fabio Hüther, the founder of Umuntu and Evodrop, was diagnosed with bone cancer at age eight and had a 50% chance of survival. The positive healing strengthened his ambition to participate in society and the environment.

As a teenager, at the age of fourteen, Fabio founded his first NGO called "Bee The Change" to bring his cause to life and positively influence as many people as possible. A second defining moment was the loss of his African godchild to cholera caused by contaminated drinking water. That was when "Bee The Change" became "Umuntu". Under the guiding principle of Umuntu - which means "I am, because we are" - the WE is brought to the fore instead of the I.

Fabio began to set up his first aid projects, mainly in Africa, because he had access to an extensive local network there. The aim was to help those in need to purify drinking water. Soon other aid projects provided help for self-help in the areas of "clean water", "clean air", "organic food", and "meaningful education".

Parallel to the aid projects, Fabio pursued his engineering studies and worked with engineers on an entirely new filter technology. This resulted in the unique membrane for the filtration foreign substances and pollutants from water. It is at the heart of realising the Umuntu vision - "Clean water is a human right". Since the summer of 2022, he has received an honorary doctorate or PhD in agriculture from the renowned Makerere University for successfully realising water technology.

At the heart of the business model are the innovative Evodrop water treatment technologies. They give people access to clean, healthy and soft water and can be optimised for use.

Apart from our business success, preserving an intact planet and sustainable society is also important to us. We live socio-ecology and reflect this in our products. We use sustainable materials, and quality is more important than quantity.

To inspire and empower others with our internally lived socioecology, we have founded our non-profit association - the Umuntu Movement charity. The Umuntu Movement initiates socioecological aid projects under the guiding principle of "helping people to help themselves". We empower people in third-world countries in water, environment, education and agriculture.
